Master Proof is happy to take proofreading commissions from authors. Self-publishers in particular would benefit greatly from the services of a proofreader.

I will act as quality control on your precious manuscript before you send it to the publisher. I will check your work for errors of consistency and grammar and offer editorial advice where necessary. I will not amend your 'voice' and will provide light copy-editing if required. I am competent in using the British Standard proofreading symbols on either hard copy or on PDFs or, if preferred, I can use Track Changes in MS Word documents.

Rates for authors are from £18 per hour, although other pricing options may be available depending on the amount of work required. The invoice is payable within 14 days of issue. As an intermediate member of the Society for Editors and Proofreaders, I adhere to their code of practice and terms and conditions. For further information, please refer to their website by clicking on the SfEP logo below.

I also offer a comprehensive copy-editing service for academic authors writing for publication in humanities and social science journals. I charge from £12 per 1,000 words and will ensure that the journal's house style and guidelines are adhered to.
